Upstairs at the Cheese Market is located in the centre of world-famous Hay-on-Wye, known for its second-hand bookshops, literary festival and stunning local scenery.
The living room
The main living space is accessed from a beautiful, light, wood-paneled entrance hall, entering through into the impressive, yet cosy, double-height space with original features.
Guests relax and unwind in the comfortable seating area with a large three-seater sofa, reading armchair and ottoman, perfect for reclining to watch the flat screen smart TV and selection of DVDs.
Large original sash windows with views to the castle ensure the apartment feels bright and airy, yet the triple glazing keeps sound to a minimum – you would never know you were right in the heart of Hay! The gas central heating and electric fire-effect heater for added cosiness keep the apartment warm even in the coldest months. Locally made art, sculpture and wall paintings give the space a homely feel.
No property in the Town of Books would be complete without a well-stocked bookshelf, and the Cheese Market is no exception. There is a good selection of fiction, some by local authors, local guidebooks and a number of local interest books, specific to Hay-on-Wye and the region.
There is also a good selection of leaflets and information on things to do in and around Hay, including a large wall-mounted local map, and once settled in you should be able to find everything you may need for your stay in Hay from the doorstep.
Please note that a steep, oak staircase, original to the building when it was the manorial courtroom, accesses the flat.
